Atlas is operated by Atlas ("we", "us"). Questions or requests: atlas.productivity.support@gmail.com.
Atlas is operated from the United States and is intended for use in the United States.
What we collect
Account information. Your email address and/or phone number, a hashed (bcrypt) version of your password, the date you signed up, your plan, and the time and version of the policies you accepted. We do not store your IP address in your account.
Content you create. Notes, actions, habits, goals, projects, areas, daily plans, brain dumps, songs and lyrics, story cards, settings, and reward/streak data. This is stored so the app can work for you.
AI usage records. For each AI request we record your account ID and a timestamp, to enforce daily limits. We delete these records after 30 days. We do not store the AI request contents in this record.
Server logs. Our server logs record your IP address, request method, page path, and response status. They do not record request bodies or query strings. We keep logs for about 30 days. Cloudflare, which hosts our website, also processes requests under its own retention practices.
Cookies and browser storage
Atlas uses one cookie, atlas_session, which keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. It is strictly necessary for the service. Atlas also keeps a short-lived cache of your own data in your browser tab's session storage to make pages load faster; it is cleared when you sign out or close the tab. We do not use advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies, so there is no cookie banner.
AI features and Google
Atlas's AI features (Untangle, Rewards, and Day Plan) send text to Google's Gemini API to generate results. What is sent:
- Untangle: your brain dump text (up to 6,000 characters), the names of your existing projects, goals, and areas, and today's date.
- Rewards: your habit names, the titles and point values of some recurring actions, and your reward settings.
- Day Plan: today's date, your plan's block labels and times, your action titles with their due dates and status, and any notes you type into the AI draft box.
We do not send your name, email, phone number, account ID, or IP address to Google.
Important: Atlas currently uses Google's free (unpaid) Gemini API tier. Under Google's terms for that tier, Google may use inputs and outputs to improve its products and machine-learning technologies, and human reviewers may read them. Please do not put sensitive information (such as health, financial, or legal details, or other people's private information) into AI features. The AI features are optional; you can use the rest of Atlas without them. We may move to Google's paid tier in the future, which does not use your data to improve Google's products, and will update this policy when we do.
Other service providers
- Cloudflare hosts the website and routes traffic to our server. It sees IP addresses and request details.
- Backblaze B2 stores our encrypted nightly backups. Backups are encrypted before they leave our server.
- Stripe may process payments in the future. It is not active today, and we do not send it any data now.
We do not sell your data, and we do not show ads.
Backups, security, and access
We keep nightly encrypted backups for 14 days. Passwords are stored hashed. Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Your live data is stored on our server, and encrypted backups are stored off-site. Atlas's administrator can technically access account content for support, maintenance, and security purposes, and will do so only when needed. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
- Export: Settings → "Download my data" gives you a zip of your content.
- Deletion: Settings → "Delete account" permanently deletes your account, your content, your AI usage records, and your off-site backup copies. A copy of your account record may remain inside older account-level backups until they expire, within 14 days. Data held by Cloudflare or Google is subject to their own retention and is outside our control.
- Access and correction: you can view and edit your content in the app. You can ask us about your data at atlas.productivity.support@gmail.com.
- Sign out everywhere: changing your password or using "sign out of all devices" ends all existing sessions.
Children
Atlas is not for children under 13. Do not create an account if you are under 13. If we learn we hold an account for a child under 13, we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update the version and date above and ask you to accept the new version.
